We are proud of everything we accomplished in 2014. Our achievements show that we are well positioned and motivated to continue actively living our responsibility.
With a 19-percent reduction in CO₂ emissions, in 2014 we were able to cut the climate footprint of our production sites by an additional five percent compared to the previous year. This brings us significantly closer to the goal, defined in our Climate Strategy, of a 25-percent reduction in CO₂ emissions at our production sites by 2020.
Thanks to a photovoltaic system, the MAN Truck & Bus plant in Pinetown, South Africa has been a climate-neutral production site since 2015 – and the first carbon-neutral truck factory in Africa. Covering almost 6,300 square meters, at the end of 2014 the system came on stream as a stand-alone source of renewable power for the plant. This not only allows MAN Truck & Bus to make a contribution to climate protection, but keeps it independent of fluctuations in energy prices.

For the third time in succession, in 2014 MAN was included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes by sustainability rating agency RobecoSAM. We have maintained our place among the top three companies. The oekom research rating agency gave MAN a “B-” grade and “Prime” status, securing it a top place in the engineering sector. We once again occupied eighth place in the Sustainalytics sustainability rating.
In 2014 we again made significant progress towards our objective of having all 34 production and production-related sites certified to ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 by 2015.

Augsburg, where Rudolf Diesel once developed the diesel engine, is now home to the MAN Museum – the perfect place for the launch of our 2013 Corporate Responsibility Report. In keeping with its identity as “a global player with strong German roots,” MAN took the opportunity to present its history, which stretches back more than 225 years. Today the Company offers its products and services around the world. MAN invited some 100 stakeholders to this dialog event held in May 2014.
